On Monday, 29 September 2025, educators from across Singapore gathered on the GESS campus for \u201cAI Literacy in Your School: From Theory to Practice,\u201d co-hosted by Singapore Education Network, fobizz, and, of course, GESS. Over 90 focused minutes, we moved past theories and buzzwords into concrete examples of real implementation: how to integrate AI as both a technology and a topic while adhering to highest data privacy standards, how to implement a practical AI policy, and how to bring AI to life in classrooms for both educators and students.<\/p>\n<p>What stood out the most was how far along GESS already was, especially in comparison to many others, with a whole-school approach to AI, anchored by a single, secure platform. Having one solution for everyone\u2014teachers and students\u2014created consistency in workflows, common language, sharing capabilities, and strong governance. We saw AI used for lesson preparation, differentiation, and student engagement, as well as for streamlining of administrative tasks that accompany various school activities. Students aren\u2019t just consuming AI; they\u2019re creating with it\u2014building their own chatbots through the use of advanced prompting for inquiry, peer feedback, and project showcases. Starting with making learning visible, designing learning, and giving feedback that makes learning visible, AI was integrated into each step along the way supporting the vision and helping reach the strategic goals. Led by Dr. Markus Meyer and Jan Brockman, and with clear support from the school management, AI was incorporated into workshops and professional development days, giving a foundation to educators across all grades and disciplines. Many attendees were grateful for the candid sharings on the efforts made to protect the personal data and privacy of teachers and students, in line with GDPR and PDPA. For us it was nice to hear that the precautions that we at fobizz take to make sure our platform is GDPR-compliant are appreciated and valued by our users, giving them the freedom to be creative in a safe environment.<\/p>\n<p>The feedback from the attendees was extremely positive and everyone was really impressed by how efficiently GESS implemented this challenging topic. For many attendees the takeaway was that having a single AI platform for the whole school, made the rollout and implementation a lot easier. I would add to that, that having dedicated champions for this topic, in this case Dr. Markus Meyer and Jan Brockmann, kept the ball rolling to get it to the goal. My favorite part was learning about the many creative ways in which GESS implemented AI as both a topic and technology throughout. We at fobizz love designing PD courses and tools for educators, but seeing it come to life is what really inspires us!
